Pete Alonso on Thursday clubbed the biggest home run of his career, and Howie Rose was up for the occasion.
Alonso smacked a 3-run home run in Game 3 of the NL wild-card Series between his New York Mets and the Milwaukee Brewers at American Family Field in Milwaukee. The home run came with runners on the corners and one out in the top of the ninth inning with Alonso’s Mets losing 2-0.
Alonso got a 3-1 changeup from Devin Williams and sent it out to the opposite field for the lead. Rose, who has announced Mets games since 1995, gave a great call:

Rose was so into that call. He expressed the relief and enthusiasm of Mets fans everywhere, especially after the team failed to close out the series on Wednesday.
The Mets tacked on an insurance run and won the game 4-2 to take the series. Next up, they will face the NL East-winning Phillies in the NLDS.
