Ricky Pearsall takes huge step toward making his 49ers debut

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall appears set to make his NFL debut soon, less than two months after he was shot in the chest.

The 49ers officially opened Pearsall’s practice window this week as he remains on the reserve/non-football injury list. Although he still has not been officially activated, Pearsall was a full participant in practice Thursday for a second consecutive day, and he was seen in full pads during drills.

This indicates that Pearsall might be on track to play Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs. That may be even more likely, as fellow receiver Jauan Jennings missed another day of practice due to a hip injury.

Pearsall was shot in the chest on Aug. 31 in San Francisco during an attempted robbery. His injuries wound up being remarkably manageable, and although the 49ers quickly ruled him out for the start of the season, he was trying to get involved in practice less than a week after the incident. If he plays, his role will likely be fairly minor, but it’s incredible that he will be on the field to begin with.
