MLB strikeout props for Sept. 25: Richard Fitts the bill

After a strong run in strikeout props, we've sputtered out of the gates this week with a 1-5 record through two days. We still have time to turn this into a profitable week, so let's start on Wednesday night with our three favorite K props for the MLB slate.

Richard Fitts under 3.5 (-145 DraftKings)

Fitts hasn't given up a run through his first three MLB starts, but he's not doing it by racking up a ton of swings and misses. The rookie has recorded only seven strikeouts in 15.2 innings, giving him a minuscule 11.1 percent K rate and a 14.7 percent whiff rate. We're expecting more of the same on Wednesday night against the Toronto Blue Jays, which have the second-highest chase contact rate and the fourth-lowest whiff rate in MLB this season. Toronto also has the third-lowest strikeout rate against righties over the last two weeks (17.8 percent).

David Peterson over 4.5 Ks (-110 DK)

Peterson ranks only in the 19th percentile in strikeout rate (19.1 percent) this season, but something changes when he faces off against the Atlanta Braves. In 109 combined plate appearances against Peterson, current Braves hitters are batting just .188 with a 30.1 percent K rate. The New York Mets southpaw racked up seven strikeouts in his lone start against the Braves this year. Peterson has also been an effective inning-eater of late, reaching at least the sixth inning in six of his last eight starts.

Jose Suarez under 4.5 Ks (+120 FanDuel)

Suarez pitches primarily out of the bullpen, so he's not used to eating up innings or throwing more than 50 pitches in one outing. We expect the Los Angeles Angels left-hander to last only four or five innings max in this matchup. The Chicago White Sox don't have a good lineup, obviously, but this line implies they're one of the most strikeout-prone teams in MLB. Chicago ranks just 16th in strikeout rate against lefties this month (25.3 percent), so it can keep Suarez under this number.
