Tyson Fury reveals one fight he's looking to avoid

Tyson Fury is one of the most flamboyant boxers in the history of the sport. Throughout his career, the 36-year-old has gone toe-to-toe with some of the biggest names of his generation.

Clashing with the likes of Wladimir Klitschko, Deontay Wilder, Francis Ngannou and Oleksandr Usyk, Fury would seemingly step in the ring with anyone.

Even a prime Mike Tyson if he could.

However, there is one boxer that Fury would avoid fighting at all costs, according to the man himself. A fight that he said he would be "stupid" to accept.

The Gypsy King admitted to TNT Sports, via The Express, that he would rather avoid stepping in the ring with rising 19-year-old British prospect Moses Itauma, dubbed "Britain's Mike Tyson."

"No, definitely not! Do you think I'm stupid? No, no no," Fury said on the possibility of fighting Itauma.

After a sparring session with the youngster, Fury dubbed his fellow Brit "the future of the heavyweight division". Understandably, he doesn't want to take any unnecessary risks at this late stage of his career.

Itauma only made his professional debut in January 2023 but has already accumulated a perfect 10-0 record. Only two of those contests have gone the distance, with his last six ending in early stoppage wins within two rounds.

The hype and popularity surrounding the young fighter has been building and will continue to grow at a rapid rate if the knockout victories keep racking up.

Turning 20 in late December, Itauma previously told The Mirror that he aims to break Mike Tyson's record as the youngest heavyweight champion. The benchmark is currently set at 20 years and four months.

Following on from a TKO victory over Mariusz Wach to retain his WBO Inter-Continental heavyweight title in July, Itauma is set to feature on the Fury-Usyk undercard on December 21, against Australian Demsey McKean.

Whether or not Tyson Fury and Moses Itauma will ever cross paths remains to be seen, but it appears that the 36-year-old is keen to give the rising star a wide berth.

However, it is widely believed that the Itauma will be the natural successor of the heavyweight division once the likes of Fury, Usyk and Anthony Joshua retire.
