Titans $92M playmaker admits he 'sucked' in Week 6 loss to Colts

The Tennessee Titans (1-4) suffered their fourth loss of the season in Week 6 to the Indianapolis Colts (3-3) due to their inability to pass the football.

Quarterback Will Levis threw for just 95 yards in the 20-17 loss. While some of the blame could be placed on Levis, it's safe to say the Titans expected more from their new-look wide receiver trio of DeAndre Hopkins, Calvin Ridley and Tyler Boyd.

Tennessee signed Ridley to a four-year, $92 million deal this offseason to be a difference-maker, but he was far from that on Sunday.

The 29-year-old caught zero passes on a team-leading eight targets. It tied for the most targets in a game with zero receptions by any player in the last 20 years.

Ridley was highly critical of himself after the game but added it was also a product of not being involved earlier in the game.

"I need some in the beginning of the [expletive] game," Ridley said, via Kevin Patra of NFL.com. "It is what it is. I sucked today -- have got to be better. But I got to get the ball a little earlier in the game so I can be in the game. So I can play well also."

Ridley was only targeted twice in the first half, but when the team attempted to get him more involved in the second half, he struggled with dropped passes.

Head coach Brian Callahan knows it wasn't the performance he or Ridley was expecting.

"I'm sure he'll be the first one to tell you it was disappointing," Callahan said. "He's one of our best players, and we look to him to try and make a play or two, and we didn't get it done at the end of the game."

There's blame to go around to everyone for the Titans' fourth loss of the season, but this isn't the first time this has happened in Ridley's career. It marked the third time Ridley didn't have a catch in a game.

"Yeah, it's frustrating," Ridley added. "Last couple of weeks have been frustrating. Got to get better."

Another reason Tennessee didn't have success passing the football was because its run game was working. The team finished the day rushing for 146 yards and a touchdown.

Still, it wasn't enough to get the win, and that is why the Titans must figure out their passing game woes to become less one-dimensional.

Tennessee will attempt to do just that in Week 7 when it goes on the road to take on the Buffalo Bills (3-2), who are allowing the 13th-fewest passing yards per game (198.4) in the league.
