Only two teams have a bye in Week 7, which leaves plenty of good options on the waiver wire. These four players should get plenty of attention.
1. Sean Tucker, RB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (rostered in 1% of Yahoo leagues)
Tampa’s third-string running back had only three touches for eight yards prior to Sunday’s 51-27 road victory over the Saints but ran for 136 yards and a touchdown while starter Rachaad White sat out Sunday’s game against the Saints with a foot injury. Tucker also had three catches for 56 yards and a score.
No. 2 back Bucky Irving also had a good game with 105 total yards, but Tucker led all NFL running backs with 34.20 fantasy points in Week 6. The Buccaneers signed Tucker as an undrafted free agent last year but saw just 15 carries in the first three games of 2023.
Rest assured, he’s earned more snaps moving forward and could be just what the 4-2 Buccaneers need to overcome the Baltimore Ravens’ top-ranked rushing defense at home on Monday Night Football.
2. DeMario Douglas, WR, New England Patriots (rostered in 7% of Yahoo leagues)
A sixth-round pick in 2023, Douglas finished as New England’s leading receiver with 561 yards last season. He had six catches for 92 yards and the first touchdown of his career against Houston last week, hooking up with Drake Maye for a 35-yard score in the rookie quarterback’s first NFL start.
Douglas has had an up-and-down season so far, leading the team with nine targets on three occasions while seeing five targets for 25 yards in Weeks 1 and 4 combined. He should have a big day in London against a 1-5 Jaguars team that allowed four passing touchdowns to the Bears last week and currently allows the most fantasy points per game (46.10) to wide receivers.
It’s not often you’ll find a team’s No. 1 receiver on the waiver wire in Week 6, and with 18 targets over his past two games Douglas is worth a look against a team like Jacksonville.
3. Hunter Henry, WR, New England Patriots (rostered in 26% of Yahoo leagues)
Henry’s five targets were second only to Douglas in Sunday’s 41-21 loss to the Texans. New England’s second-leading receiver had three catches for 41 yards and a touchdown. His 13.10 fantasy points were seventh-most among tight ends in Week 6.
As expected, the 29-year-old veteran proved to be a dependable target for Maye at home against the Texans and will look to do the same abroad against Jacksonville’s 32-ranked passing defense.
4. Grant Calcaterra, TE, Philadelphia Eagles (rostered in 0% of ESPN leagues)
Calcaterra had a career day with four catches for 67 yards after starting tight end Dallas Goedert left Sunday’s game against the Browns with a hamstring injury. The third-year tight end had been relatively quiet in the team’s first four games, but has been on the field for 52% of the team's offensive snaps in 2024.
It’s worth mentioning that Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown missed three games with a hamstring injury before returning to face the Browns. If Goedert misses next week’s contest against the Giants, Calcaterra could easily beat the 10.7 fantasy points he put up against Cleveland.
Good luck to all fantasy players. Please check out our post-waiver picks later this week.
