Raiders owner has clear message on Maxx Crosby's future following Davante Adams trade

After weeks, if not months of rumors, the Las Vegas Raiders finally traded star wide receiver Davante Adams to the New York Jets on Tuesday.

In the wake of the blockbuster deal, Raiders owner Mark Davis was asked about the status of one of the franchise's other superstars — defensive end Maxx Crosby.

Davis immediately dismissed trade chatter surrounding the three-time Pro Bowler.

Crosby was selected by then-Oakland in the 2019 NFL Draft and has turned into a fourth-round steal as one of the premier pass-rushers in the game over the last five years.

The Eastern Michigan product racked up 10 sacks and a career-high four forced fumbles during his first season to finish second in the AP Defensive Rookie of the Year voting to San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa. Crosby had his lowest output in 2020 but still tallied 14 tackles for loss, 13 quarterback hits and seven sacks.

He was named second-team All-Pro in 2021 and earned his first Pro Bowl honor, registering 30 quarterback hits, eight sacks and a career-best seven passes defended, before posting a career-high 36 quarterback hits to go with a league-high 22 tackles for loss and 12.5 sacks in 2022.

Crosby may have had his best season in 2023, ending the campaign with career-highs in tackles for loss (league-high 23) and sacks (14.5). He was named second-team All-Pro for the second time, made his third straight Pro Bowl and was fourth in the AP Defensive Player of the Year voting.

Crosby's having another huge 2024 campaign, entering Week 7 tied for the NFL lead in tackles for loss (nine) and tied for fifth in sacks (5.5).
