Hall of Fame quarterback Troy Aikman made his weekly radio appearance on 96.7 The Ticket on Thursday morning to discuss the state of the Dallas Cowboys (3-3).
The career-long Cowboy, former Super Bowl MVP and current "Monday Night Football" color commentator took aim at star wideout CeeDee Lamb and the rest of the team's wide receiving corps.
Former Cowboys QB Troy Aikman on @dfwticket on Dallas' wide receivers: "I think the routes are terrible. I think they run terrible routes. And I've thought that beyond this year. I think CeeDee (Lamb) has got to improve in his route running. As a quarterback, if you're not…

Dallas has its bye in Week 7 but is coming off an embarrassing 47-9 defeat in Week 6 against the Detroit Lions. The loss was the Cowboys' most lopsided setback at home since 1988, and they're now 0-3 at AT&T Stadium this season.
Jerry Jones took over as team owner ahead of the 1989 campaign and drafted Aikman with the No. 1 overall pick that April.
While "America's Team" won three Super Bowls with the six-time Pro Bowler under center and the now-82-year-old at the helm, Dallas hasn't returned to the big stage (or made an NFC Championship Game) since the 1995 campaign.
The Cowboys will have roughly half of the season left when they return in Week 8 against the San Francisco 49ers. They are still in the hunt in the NFC East, but there are red flags everywhere.
Thanks primarily to its 44-19 blowout loss against the New Orleans Saints and Sunday's rout vs. the Lions, Dallas has the NFL's 30th-ranked defense (28.0 points allowed per game) and the third-worst point differential (-42) in the NFC, only ahead of the Carolina Panthers (1-5) and Los Angeles Rams (1-4).
The defense has been hit hard by injuries, notably to Pro Bowl defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence (foot) and two-time first-team All-Pro linebacker Micah Parsons (ankle). All-Pro cornerback DaRon Bland is also making his way back from a foot injury and is expected to make his season debut soon after almost returning in Week 6.
The Cowboys have the league's worst rushing attack on offense, collecting just 463 yards on the ground through six contests.
This week has been especially rough for Jones, who was widely criticized after a Tuesday morning radio appearance where he roasted the program's co-hosts for their questioning style.
Now, a franchise icon is calling out the team's wideouts, and the team will undoubtedly be asked about Aikman's comments in the coming days.
Perhaps the Cowboys' bye week is coming at the perfect time.
