Positive news on the injury front at Manchester United is not something we often experience, but it doesn’t come without a blow for the Reds.
United take on Brentford in the Premier League on Saturday after being dealt multiple setbacks ahead of the October international break, which has concluded without more of Erik ten Hag’s players sustaining knocks.
New signing Noussair Mazraoui was forced off at half-time of our most recent fixture against Aston Villa, and he was subsequently pulled out of the Morocco squad after it emerged that the right-back underwent a minor heart procedure after experiencing palpitations.
A United source told Stretty News: “This is a relatively common condition and Noussair is expected to make a full recovery and be available for selection within the next few weeks.”
The good news tonight is that Mazraoui is among three players to return to training after missing games for their countries during the international break, as per ManUtd.com. The others include Alejandro Garnacho (Argentina) and Amad Diallo (Ivory Coast).
It comes as a boost ahead of Saturday’s clash against Brentford at Old Trafford, to see the trio all pictured taking part in Thursday’s training session at Carrnigton.
The game against Brentford may come too soon for Mazraoui and it’s not a condition – albeit minor/common – that United will want to take any risks with.
Meanwhile, it’s understood that illness ruled both Garnacho and Amad out of international duty.
Manuel Ugarte picked up a knock playing for Uruguay during the break, although the former Paris Saint-Germain star took part in a recovery session.
The biggest blow comes with the update that United will be without Kobbie Mainoo and Harry Maguire for the coming weeks. Ten Hag has some big games to turn his fortunes around at the club and he will need a fully fit squad to help him achieve that.
Mason Mount, Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia and Leny Yoro all remain unavailable for selection due to injuries.
Ten Hag will provide a further update on his squad to face Brentford at Friday’s 1:30 pm press conference.
