The Chicago Blackhawks have only played four games, but Seth Jones is currently on pace for a 102-point season. Is that sustainable? Absolutely not. However, Seth Jones is off to a start that should allow him to rival the numbers he posted in his first season with the Hawks. Right now, Seth Jones looks like a man on fire.
Last season, Jones was largely paired with Alex Vlasic, allowing the young defenseman to flourish into a key piece of the team's future. This season, Jones has been playing alongside Alec Martinez, allowing Jones to play more on offense while Vlasic continues developing into an all-around defenseman alongside TJ Brodie. As a result, Jones is posting impressive numbers and jumping into the play on a regular basis.
In Tuesday's game, Jones got the Hawks going in an effort to tie the game. Just 10 seconds after the Calgary Flames opened the scoring in the first period, Jones set up the Hawks' lone tally. On the play, Jones did a nice job flipping the puck toward the net around an oncoming defender. Nick Foligno's redirect got the Hawks on the board, but the play was made by the Hawks' No. 1 defenseman.

Jones picked up his fourth assist of the season, bringing his point total to five points in four games. Jones is also now tied with Connor Bedard in assists, and both Bedard and Teuvo Teravainen for the team lead in points.
Despite the impressive start from Jones and a quick response to Calgary's lead, the Hawks ultimately fell in Calgary as the red-hot Flames won their fourth straight game to open the season. The Flames got two goals from Matt Coronato and one goal from Andrei Kuzmenko, a player who would've looked nice in a Blackhawks jersey, in the win.
The Blackhawks finally return home to the United Center for the first time in the 2024-25 season. Thursday's home opener will feature a Macklin Celebrini-less San Jose Sharks team for the 7:30 PM CT puck drop.
