Will massive summer additions elevate the Predators to success?

The Nashville Predators performed major offseason surgery, adding longtime Tampa Bay Lightning captain and Stanley Cup champion Steven Stamkos to their roster in a monster splash, and signing Stanley Cup champion Jonathan Marchessault, and Brady Skjei among other players.

Here on Daily Faceoff Live, Frank Seravalli and Tyler Yaremchuk discuss the summer additions and will it help elevate Nashville to success?

Tyler Yaremchuk: One of the offseason champions this summer was the Nashville Predators. Barry Trotz did a lot of heavy lifting, bringing in Steven Stamkos, Jonathan Marchessault and Brady Skjei. There’s always that little bit of me that goes ‘The team that wins the off-season, doesn’t always win the regular season,’ but do you think these additions will help translate for Trotz and the Preds?

Frank Seravalli: Absolutely, how could it not? You’re talking about three humongous additions to a team that was already a playoff team last year and you have Juuse Saros as your starting goaltender, who I chose to win the Vezina. So let’s say both Stamkos and Marchessault take a slight step back and score 35 goals each, do people not think that is doable? I mean you’re talking about a significant influx of offense and then you add in Skjei on the backend. The Predators have gone from a playoff team to a legit circle of 5-7 Stanley Cup contenders in one off-season.
