Stars’ Tyler Seguin out day-to-day, Matt Dumba out week-to-week

The Dallas Stars have announced that forward Tyler Seguin is out day-to-day and will not play tonight vs. the San Jose Sharks.

The Stars also announced that defenseman Matt Dumba is considered week-to-week.

Seguin has two goals and one assist for three points in three games to start the 2024-25 campaign. Last season, Seguin tallied 25 goals and 27 assists for 52 points in 68 games.

The 32-year-old was originally selected No. 2 overall in the 2010 NHL Draft by the Boston Bruins, Seguin won the Stanley Cup with the Bruins in 2011 before being dealt in a seven-player deal to Dallas in 2013.

The six-time NHL All-Star has appeared in 972 regular season games, totalling 353 goals and 438 assists for 791 points. He is currently in the sixth year of an eight-year, $78 million contract. The contract has a cap hit of $9.85 million.

Meanwhile, Dumba has appeared in two games this season and has not registered a point. Dumba signed a two-year deal with Dallas on July 1, with an AAV of $3.75 million carrying through the 2025-26 season. 

The Regina, Saskatchewan native split the 2023-24 season with the Arizona Coyotes and Tampa Bay Lightning where he tallied four goals and eight assists for 12 points in 68 games.

In 674 NHL games, Dumba has notched 83 goals and 165 assists with a +11 rating, notching 15 points in 54 playoff games with a -6.

The 3-0-0 Dallas Stars are set to face the Sharks tonight, the Washington Capitals on Thursday and the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday.
