TGL inks media rights deal in Canada with Sportsnet
GREG LOVETT/THE PALM BEACH POST / USA TODAY NETWORK

Canada's Sportsnet will air every match of the inaugural season of TGL, the upcoming virtual golf league spearheaded by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy's business TMRW Sports.

The Canadian media rights deal was announced Tuesday and comes a few months before the TGL season begins on Jan. 7, 2025.

"Combining the biggest names in golf with a unique format in prime time makes this an outstanding broadcast property," Sportsnet president Greg Sansone said.

TGL was originally slated to begin play in 2024 but storm damage hurt the facility built for it in Palm Beach, Fla., setting the project back.

The plan is for matches to be played in primetime on Mondays or Tuesdays to fit within players' PGA Tour schedules. After 15 regular-season matches, the league will stage semifinals and finals. All matches will be played in the Florida facility that features a massive screen and an adaptable green complex.

ESPN holds the American TV rights and will show matches on ESPN and ESPN+.
