Green Bay Packers: Keys To Victory Against The Houston Texans
Gary A. Vasquez-Imagn Images

NFL fans will be in for a treat this Sunday. Despite the fact this is a noon game, the Green Bay Packers and Houston Texans will square off in Lambeau Field. This game will include two of the best young quarterbacks in the game. The Green Bay Packers will have Jordan Love. The Houston Texans have C.J. Stroud. You could argue this is the best game on the NFL schedule this week (Detroit and Minnesota fans might disagree).  The Packers have a 4-2 record while Houston comes into this game at 5-1. It should be a shootout with a ton of great players on the field. Here are what the Packers need to do in order to get a big home win.

The Offensive Line Needs to Protect Jordan Love

The Houston Texans come into this game leading the NFL with 19 sacks. In particular, Will Anderson Jr leads the team with 5.5 sacks. The former # pick in the 2023 Draft has been an impact player right away and has huge potential to be great.

When the Minnestoa Vikings came to Lambeau Field a few weeks ago, they were leading the league with 16 sacks. They only got to Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love twice. This has been a really good offensive line so far. They will have to keep Love upright in this game if they are going to come out with a win.

Continue to use the Running Game

Houston has a great defense, In fact, they are 3rd in total defense. The one area they have struggled at times with has been the run defense. They are currently allowing 114 yards a game on the ground.

On the other hand, the Green Bay Packers have been running the ball great so far and are second in the NFL with 167 rushing yards a game. I think if they can’t get Jordan Love in a rhythm early in this game they will rely on the running game. That will always open up the passing game. With how good the Texans offense has been so far this year, winning the time of possession could be an important factor.

The Green Bay Packers Defense Needs to Show Out Again

It’s been a breath of fresh air so far with this Green Bay Packers defense. Outside of the Philadelphia game and the first half of the Vikings game, Jeff Hafley has this defense playing really well every game. So good in fact they lead the NFL in takeaways.

C.J. Stroud is going to be the best quarterback this Green Bay Packers defense has faced to this point. He will put a ton of stress on this secondary. It’s going to be important for the defensive line and edge rushers to get Stroud uncomfortable in the pocket. If they cant, he will pick them apart the entire game. This unit has shown they can force turnovers. They will have to do it again Sunday.
