Jamal Adams Released from Titans Contract Following Request Rumors Amid 1-4 Season

Tennesse Titans release three-time Pro Bowl safety, Jamal Adams. The veteran was released after Adams requested to be traded, his agent later confirmed. The veteran is looking for opportunity elsewhere, as the Titans have had a slow start to their season, 1-4.

In July, Adams signed a one-year, $1.125 million contract with the Titans, which is the veteran minimum salary for a one-year deal. Injuries have stopped him from making an impact on the team. He’s only played in three games this season and recorded four tackles. A hip injury sidelined Jamal Adams in Week 1 and then took a month to get back into football shape before being sidelined again in Week 6.

Jamal Adams Injuries Have Plagued Him

It’s been a poor few years for the former first-team All-Pro. He was released in March after a career dogged by injury since he joined the Seattle Seahawks where he signed a four-year, $70m extension. As well, Jamal Adams’ move from the Seahawks also came from disagreements over where to play on the field — Adams didn’t want to play linebacker. It wasn’t because of time on the field, he insists, it was just opportunity. He feels like he doesn’t get an opportunity to help his team out, so it’s best to move on.

Jamal Adams, often injured, used to be one of the more respected safeties in the league. He missed so much playing time since then, playing just 10 games of the final two years of his stint in Seattle. Yet if Adams can somehow stay healthy, he’s still a talented player and could be just what a playoff-pushing team would need down in the secondary.

It will be interesting to see where Adams ends up next, but considering his history and ability, he could be a quality late-season acquisition for a Super Bowl contender.
