After an epic Super Bowl LVIII, which saw the Chiefs beat the 49ers in overtime, it opened up an exciting conversation about whether or not they could carry their form into the 2024 NFL season and win three Super Bowls in a row. This is something that’s never been done in the history of the NFL — but it’s starting to look like a very realistic possibility. 

Ahead of Week 7, the Kansas City Chiefs are undefeated with a 5-0 record. So far, they’ve dismissed the Ravens (27-20), Bengals (26-25), Falcons (22-17), Chargers (17-10), and Saints (26-13). It’s been an interesting display that has led to a huge buzz amongst Chiefs fans and media analysts, with some even speculating that the Chiefs might go all out and finish the season with a 17-0 undefeated record. This is something that has only been done once in NFL history by the 1972 Miami Dolphins — and if any team in the modern era is capable of matching that record, it’s the Chiefs.

No team in NFL history has ever pulled off a Super Bowl three-peat, so it’s certainly an ambitious target. This is something that defensive lineman Chris Jones himself has spoken about, claiming: “It’s just so far-fetched”. You can’t blame Chiefs’ players for not wanting to get too far ahead of themselves, but it’s fair to say that the three-peat is on. After all, the Chiefs have yet to hit top form heading into Week 7 and yet are still undefeated. Once they hit top form and Mahomes improves, it could be lights out for the rest of the league. 

Who Can Stop the Chiefs from Winning the Super Bowl? 

When it comes to who can stop the Chiefs this season, the most obvious answer is the San Francisco 49ers. Unlike the Chiefs, though, the 49ers are off to a terrible start. The collapse started in Week 3 against the LA Rams in a game that the 49ers should have won, quickly followed by them losing again in Week 5 to the Arizona Cardinals in a tight 24-23 defeat. However, the 49ers are historically known for starting seasons quite slowly, so you can expect them to gradually find form over the coming weeks as the new NFL season starts to pick up momentum.
