Pirates’ Jared Triolo Named Gold Glove Finalist

Pittsburgh Pirates infielder Jared Triolo has been named a Gold Glove finalist at the utility position in the National League. He’s one of three players in the running to take home the award alongside Kiké Hernandez (Dodgers) and Brendan Donovan (Cardinals).

Triolo split most of his time this past season between third base and second base. The 26-year-old broke camp as the Pirates’ starting second baseman before he was supplanted by Nick Gonzales in May. As third baseman Ke’Bryan Hayes battled back issues for much of the season, the Pirates often used Triolo as his replacement at the hot corner down the stretch.

In addition to playing 61 games at third base and 47 at second, Triolo played nine games at both shortstop and first base and spent two innings in right field. Combined between all five positions, Triolo accumulated seven defensive runs saved (six DRS at second base) and a .992 fielding percentage.

Triolo, the lone Pirates’ finalist this year, will look to make it back-to-back years in which a Gold Glove resides in Pittsburgh. Hayes was the recipient of the 2023 Gold Glove at third base a year ago.

Rawlings’ full list of Gold Glove finalists can be found here. Winners will be announced on Nov. 3.
