Georgia and Alabama have been the two most successful programs in the last decade, built on constant success, highly drafted players and elite coaching. Since the SEC is separated into two divisions, the two teams hardly face off in the regular season, only seeing each other twice every twelve years. Fans have grown accustomed to seeing Georgia and Alabama battle in SEC Championships or College Football Playoff games. But Christmas has come early for college football fans nationwide as the #2 Georgia Bulldogs travel to Tuscaloosa to take on the #4 Alabama Crimson Tide in what should be one of the most anticipated matchups this season.
Georgia started the year being ranked #1 in the AP poll but has dropped a spot due to struggling with Kentucky in week 2 of the season. They won the game but did not dominate as so many fans have come to expect when watching Georgia play. Heisman candidate Carson Beck leads the Georgia Bulldogs, who have had a great start to the year, playing nearly perfect football. He has thrown for seven touchdowns and 0 interceptions and has only been sacked once through the season's first three games. This SEC clash vs a top-ranked program will be the most challenging test either team has faced all year.
As for Alabama, the biggest storyline heading into this season was how the team would look now that legendary head coach Nick Saban has retired and is away from the team for the first time in 17 years. With many players transferring in and out based on the new coaching staff, there were plenty of question marks on how the Alabama Crimson Tide would perform under new leadership. It is safe to say the Tide have not missed a beat as they have looked terrific averaging 49.0 points a game with a 3-0 record this season. Quarterback Jalen Milroe was at risk of transferring after Nick Saban departed but decided to stay and has played excellently to start the season. Milroe is responsible for 14 total touchdowns and has yet to throw an interception.

Despite being at home, Alabama is currently two-and-a-half-point underdogs to Georgia. This game lands in the primetime 7:30 ET p.m. slot, and anything can happen under the bright lights of SEC football. I expect this game to be neck and neck, filled with fireworks and big plays. In the end, new head coach Kalen DeBoer will get his first signature win with the Crimson Tide in a thriller upset.
