Week 4’s Sunday Night Football game features two playoff-caliber teams that have experienced a vastly different September. The Buffalo Bills opened the season with wins against the Arizona Cardinals and the Miami Dolphins. In both contests, the Bills scored more than 30 points per game, placing them in the top 5 in the NFL for scoring offenses. Buffalo’s balanced offensive attack utilizes the arm of quarterback Josh Allen with the legs of running back James Cook, averaging five yards per carry. This balanced offense attack could allow the Buffalo Bills to establish long drives keeping the Ravens offense on the sidelines.

Speaking of Baltimore, the Ravens have had a frustrating start to the season. They lost their first two games to the Kansas City Chiefs and the Las Vegas Raiders. In both games, Baltimore failed to score more than 24 points despite having a top-5 passing offense and a top-10 rushing attack. While the offense has scored enough points to win games, the Ravens’ defense failed to contain opponents. Stopping the Chiefs is next to impossible, but against the Raiders, the Baltimore Ravens allowed three fourth-quarter scoring drives, indicating they might have been exhausted at the end of the contest. Expect Buffalo to use a similar strategy when they meet.

While September doesn’t determine the trajectory for the rest of the season, it’s a game both teams have circled on their schedules. Buffalo vs. Baltimore predictions

It could preview a playoff matchup featuring two of the NFL’s most dynamic offenses and quarterbacks. ESPN Analytics favors the Bills by 53 percent to win, indicating this is a toss-up game. The Bills have had more success leading up to this point, but you could argue the Ravens have had the tougher schedule so far. In a game as close as this one will be, converting third-downs could win it. It is an area where Baltimore has an edge. The Ravens converted 40 percent of their third downs, compared to 33 percent for the Bills. The other thing to consider is Baltimore needs this game more. The AFC North will be highly competitive this year, and they're already two games behind the Pittsburgh Steelers. With these factors in mind, look for the Ravens to make enough clutch plays down the stretch to win.
