The Seattle Seahawks were a bad illegal shift penalty away from making it a 29-23 game with a little under five minutes to go, which made Thursday night's 36-24 loss to the San Francisco 49ers even more frustrating than it already was.
The Seahawks would've been down just one score thanks to D.K. Metcalf's 52-yard touchdown reception, but Kenneth Walker couldn't completely stop moving before the snap, which is what prompted the penalty. It was a very frustrating moment that robbed the Pro Bowl wideout of his third receiving touchdown of the season.
Well, Metcalf's week just got a lot more frustrating after the NFL fined him $11,255 on Saturday for unnecessary roughness against the New York Giants in Week 5. The moment occurred late in the second half, with about :12 seconds left, per the NFL's Gameday Accountability log. Metcalf wasn't flagged or anything like that, but when going back and watching the All-22, one can see Metcalf throwing a Giants defender to the ground toward the end of the play:

One can certainly make an argument as to whether or not Metcalf should have been fined. That kind of stuff happens pretty often in the NFL, but the league is clearly keeping a close eye on stuff like this and it has no issue doling out fines when it thinks they're warranted.
