Saints try their best to fill the void of Chris Olave with roster move ahead of Broncos game

The New Orleans Saints are shorthanded heading into Week 7. Injuries have blitzed their entire roster. To begin their week, their injury report named nearly one third of their active roster.

Saints wide receivers Rashid Shaheed and Chris Olave both will not play against the Denver Broncos on Wednesday Night Football. Shaheed has a meniscus injury that could keep him out the remainder of the season. Olave is in concussion protocol.

As for practice squad elevations, we know of one already for New Orleans against Denver. They had to add to that WR corps.

Saints elevate WR Equanimeous St. Brown

St. Brown joins Bub Means, Mason Tipton, and Cedrick Wilson Jr. as potentially the only active receivers in black and gold on Thursday evening. St. Brown has spent much of this season on New Orleans' practice squad.

Means had a breakout performance in Week 6, proving a strong connection with rookie quarterback Spencer Rattler. We will see if they can continue that against one of the best defenses in the AFC in the Broncos.

Tipton has been a player that the staff and his teammates have raved about since camp. The upside is exciting, but he's a UDFA with plenty to prove still.

Wilson has mostly been a special teams player up to this point in 2024. That will change this week.

Remember the wide receiver rooms at times under Sean Payton? Those lacked experience and upside. The Saints will trot out an inexperienced, unproven group against him during the primetime showdown.

New Orleans could also elevate another wide receiver, like Jermaine Jackson or Dante Pettis, but that does not seem particularly likely after this move.
