Once again, the New Orleans Saints were forced to make a tough choice on Thursday afternoon. As they prep for Thursday Night Football against the Denver Broncos and Sean Payton, they made a key roster move.

Saints place Rashid Shaheed on injury list

Shaheed had knee surgery on Thursday for a meniscus injury.

Shaheed heads to injured reserve. According to Adam Schefter, he will not return during the 2024 season. Worst case scenario for New Orleans.

New Orleans signed Jermaine Jackson to the active roster, according to Nick Underhill. He will be the returner for the Saints. The Saints also elevated wideout Equanimeous St. Brown and safety Johnathan Abram for Thursday's game.

Now, the Saints must adjust their offense once again. Their best deep ball threat will  be out for the rest of this season.

Shaheed has proven to have a strong connection with starting quarterback Derek Carr and was a massive contributor on special teams. So far in 2024, the young WR had totaled 20 receptions for 349 yards. He averaged 17.5 yards per catch.

He was a first-team All-Pro returner in 2023. As recently as last week, he was making huge plays in the return game. Shaheed returned a punt for a touchdown against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

He is under contract with New Orleans for one more season.

Unfortunately, injuries have been a major problem for Dennis Allen's team once again. For Week 7, they will be without wideout Chris Olave due to a concussion, too.
