That 47-9 Detroit Lions win over the Dallas Cowboys was pretty fun right? The next day most of America really enjoyed watching "America's team" get absolutely demolished on national television. Everyone except former New Jersey governor Chris Christie.
Christie, a noted Cowboys fan, went on the Mad Dog show on Thursday and had this to say about Campbell.
"That's Dan Campbell. He's got no class, never has. So it's fine. Look, Dan Campbell, that's the way he is, and what goes around comes around. I just think that it's misdirected you know, Dan Campbell's angry because the referees got a call wrong in the game a year ago. Well, then you know, run that play on Roger Goodell. The Cowboys had nothing to do with the play being called incorrectly. It wasn't a challenge that the Cowboys made. It was a call the referees made. The Lions got hurt by it. The Cowboys benefited by it. But now so because of that, you want to take your, you know, your peak for that, while you're, you know, beating the hell out of these guys, and rub it in. That's not what pros do, but it's his prerogative. It's the reputation that he'll carry around. Quite frankly I see most people think that his rep now anyway."

Wow! There's a lot to unpack there. For starters, I've been around Dan Campbell intermittently for the last three seasons and not once have I ever thought that he was a bad guy and had no class. Just the opposite. I've been blown away by his kindness.
A little story from my point of view is that at the NFL Combine this past February there was huge scrum around him and reporters were trying to get questions in, myself included. He paused me for a moment and said that he would come back to me and then he actually did. That might not seem like a big thing, but it really is in my profession. It's not always easy to get your questions in and he made sure I did. Other coaches have flat out ignored me or forgot to come back to me.
I'm not the only one that has been in that position in the media. There's been countless people talking about how nice of a man Campbell is and everyone I've talked to around the team loves the guy. That's players, personnel and employees. The guys rep is not at all bad in the NFL.
Christie is understandably upset that the Lions just beat the brakes off his team, but to take a shot at a guys character and just flat out lie is just not cool.
