Emma Raducanu is 21 and, at her age, she used to feel envy seeing other people enjoying their time at parties while she spent her time in training. Raducanu however, instead of considering this as a sacrifice, felt missing something to reach her goals is important.
Her fight with form issues and multiple injuries and their surgeries were the reasons why she not only failed to win her second title but remained for months on the sidelines. The same happened during the Korea Open, which ruined her plan for the Asian swing.
Following her heartbreaking first-round exit at the US Open, Raducanu ticked on several tournaments in Asia to participate, the Korea Open being the first one. She reached the quarterfinals and played just one set against top seed Daria Kasatkina and retired from it due to an injury on her left foot.
Raducanu, however, is full of confidence that she can bounce back and control her matches. For the same, she knows that working hard- and maybe missing a few things about which she gets envious while seeing others do them- to improve her game will eventually pay off in the near future.
There were certain moments where I felt envy – like when there were parties that I couldn’t go to, but at the end of the day, I didn’t know any different. You don’t miss what you don’t know. I knew I wanted to be the best and I knew what I needed to do to get there, so I didn’t think of it as a sacrifice.
Emma Raducanu told Women’s Health Magazine
Hello, last week in Seoul i sprained some ligaments in my foot which unfortunately need some more time to heal. It means i can’t play in Beijing but I hope to be back competing as soon as i can ❤️

In that same interview with Women’s Health Magazine, Emma Raducanu talked about balancing her school and tennis life. Raducanu liked both as they helped her rejuvenate after focusing on one of these two for a long time.
Newstead [a selective girls’ grammar school in London] is pretty demanding, so it wasn’t like I could take it easy off the court, either. I put all my time into tennis or school, but it was good to have those two different worlds: school and tennis. Each was a break from the other.

Raducanu is currently World No. 56 and is 20/13 on the season. She achieved her best in the rankings in 2022 when she stood in 10th spot. Raducanu probably won’t be able to return to court this season due to the foot injury.
The youngster is the winner of the 2021 US Open. She broke several records after that victory but unfortunately for the Brit, the win at Flushing Meadows remains the only title she has won so far on the WTA Tour.
