The Detroit Red Wings picked up their first win of the 2024-25 season last night with a 3-0 win, the win was paced behind a shutout from Cam Talbot and goals from J.T. Compher, Andrew Copp, and Dylan Larkin; Talbot stopped all 42 shots in his first Red Wings start, he played in relief in the season opener. The Red Wings held morning skate this morning ahead of tomorrow’s game and following practice head coach Derek LaLonde said that Christian Fischer will be out for the game on Monday and that they would be calling up a forward meaning someone would need to be placed on waivers well that move was announced this afternoon as goalie Ville Husso was placed on waivers.

The 29-year-old Husso got the start in goal on Thursday and struggled giving up four goals on 14 shots. Husso in his Detroit tenure has appeared in 76 games going 35-28-9 with a 3.25 goals against average and an .892 save percentage. Once Husso either clears or is claimed the Red Wings will recall a forward, which speculation is that it may be Austin Watson.
