Is Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh a top-10 NFL head coach all-time?

Unfortunately, that question is far too subjective for a legitimate answer. It depends on who you ask. What is undeniable, however, is Harbaugh belongs in the conversation.

Harbaugh is in his 17th season as Baltimore's head coach. He's led the Ravens to 11 playoff berths and holds a career 12-10 record in the playoffs, including the most road playoff wins by a head coach with eight. He also won the 2013 Super Bowl.

During the Week 6 game against the Washington Commanders, Tony Romo, the elite color commentator, weighed in on the future Hall of Fame coach, confidently calling him a top-10 coach of all time. Romo made sure to emphasize his statement with a firm, “No question.”

Romo’s declaration may have seemed bold to some, but it’s hard to argue with the facts. Harbaugh’s ability to consistently keep his team in the playoff hunt despite injuries, roster changes, and the constantly evolving NFL landscape speaks volumes about his coaching skills.

His leadership goes beyond statistics, as he has built a culture of resilience and adaptability in Baltimore. This is why his name continues to come up in top-10 discussions. However, not everyone agrees with Romo’s take.

'Mad Dog' Chris Russo wrongfully rips Tony Romo for John Harbaugh take

Listen, we're not sitting here trying to convince football fans that Harbaugh is definitively a top-10 head coach. As mentioned earlier, it's far too subjective—depends on who you ask. But whether you believe he belongs in that elite company or not, there’s at least a strong, legitimate case to be made for him.

Apparently not.

During his usual fiery "What are you mad about?" segment on ESPN's First Take, Chris 'Mad Dog' Russo tore into Romo's comment with his signature animated style, vehemently rejecting the notion that Harbaugh is anywhere near top-10 territory.

Mad Dog is well-known for his intense and spirited takes on the sports world. He’s also a history aficionado who frequently brings up past players and coaches. Though his “Have you heard of” list of head coaches, which he says are better than Harbaugh, is impressive, it may not be completely on point.

John Harbaugh's coaching record is 164-101 with a Super Bowl win. Here are the coaches the Mad Dog has ahead of the Ravens' coach.

There are several head coaches Mad Dog forgot to mention who could also warrant conversation.

Comparing Harbaugh to the games' previous greats is a tough task, it might be impossible. Again, the list is subjective. Harbaugh has more wins than Gibbs, Walsh, Ewbank, and Lombardi.

Do football fans side with Tony Romo or The Mad Dog?

Instead of pulling some social media posts together and assuming we have the pulse of the football fans, we went straight to the source. After all, you know what happens when you assume. We asked X users to chime in and let us know what they think of Harbaugh being considered as a top-10 head coach all-time.

So there you have it, folks, Harbaugh's case is as divisive as ever. What do you think?
