Jonathan Marchessault reveals devastating personal news

Jonathan Marchessault was in Quebec City on Saturday night as his jersey was being retired by the Quebec Remparts.

However, during his jersey retirement ceremony, he revealed a truly horrible event that happened to him just 24 hours earlier. As Marchessault revealed, his mother passed away. He noted that it has been extremely tough for him. It is truly miraculous that he found the strength to be at the ceremony. However, it just goes to show how dedicated Marchessault is as a hockey player.

As for his comments about his mom, it was absolutely beautiful. Marchessault clearly loved her very much, and this was definitely a worthy tribute.

'It's difficult. I learned that I lost my mother yesterday morning. It's been 24 hours, so it's very difficult not only for me but for my entire family.

Anyone who knew my mother knows that a moment like the one today would have been one of the best moments of her entire life.

That's what is so sad. She would have really loved to see it, to see her name raised to the top of the Videotron Centre. She was so good to me, she was incredible. It's horrible. It's part of life. She would have wanted us to be here as a family, so that's why we went through with it.'

Our heart goes out to the Marchessault family during this very difficult time. We hope he is able to get the support he needs and deserves.
