Tyson Jost was a former 10th overall pick of the Colorado Avalanche and at one point, he was considered to be a truly talented prospect.
However, his NHL career has not gone according to plan. His best season included just 11 goals and 15 assists. This season took place five years ago, and Jost has not been the same player since. Last season, Jost only had six points in 43 games which led to him getting sent down to the AHL.
This offseason, he was picked up by the Carolina Hurricanes. Unfortunately, he was not able to make much noise during the preseason. As a result, Jost was waived today. If he clears waivers, he will have to report to the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League.
In 456 career NHL games, Jost has only managed a total of 57 goals and 83 assists which makes up a total of 140 points. With this kind of production, it is easy to see why he is struggling to make an NHL lineup. While this may seem harsh, it is ultimately the truth.
Hopefully, he is able to turn things around. The NHL and sports in general are a tough business. It is all results driven and if you can't get it done, you are replaced swiftly. Only time will tell what is next for Jost in his career.
