Los Angeles Kings reportedly gunning for blockbuster Igor Shesterkin trade

Igor Shesterkin and the New York Rangers are currently in contract negotiations and recently, the goaltender turned down an eight-year deal worth a whopping $88 million.

That is a lot of money, but there are reports that Shesterkin believes he could get a whole lot more. In fact, some estimates believe that Shesterkin could realistically find himself making $12 to $13 million per year. This is an unfathomable amount of money for a goalie, yet there are still teams willing to pay it.

In fact, the Los Angeles Kings are reportedly willing to throw the world at Shesterkin. According to a report from Hockey Buzz, the Kings are waiting to pounce in the event that the Rangers and Shesterkin have a falling out during the negotiation process.

' The Kings are working up a MEGA trade offer to the NY Rangers for Igor, They have dealt with goaltending issues, and they have been EXTREMELY open with their desire for Shesterkin....they would put an 8-year max extension on his plate.. Not calling this collusion, since teams talk to player agents in common with other team's players often and Shesterkin turning down the mega offer two days back is a good indication he knows there are teams out there who would go higher...'

Getting the Rangers to agree to something like this would be monumental. For the most part, it seems like Shesterkin and the Rangers will indeed come to terms on a deal eventually. However, we're sure Kings fans are going to dream about this.
