Player who once bit Brady Tkachuk gets placed on waivers

Brendan Lemieux of the Carolina Hurricanes was placed on waivers today and it could spell the end of his NHL tenure.

The 28-year-old was a late-round draft pick all the way back in 2014. Overall, he has not been the player his teams have hoped for. In fact, he is someone who has actually elicited a ton of controversy. He infamously bit Brady Tkachuk a few years ago, which turned out to be a horrendous look and even got him suspended for five games.

As it turns out, Lemieux was struggling with injuries to start the season and that is a huge reason behind his assignment down to the minors.

'Lemieux, 28, missed both of the Hurricanes' games so far this season with a lower-body injury. The Denver native totaled five points (3g, 2a) and led Carolina with 64 penalty minutes in 32 games during the 2023-24 season. A second-round selection, 31st overall, by the Buffalo Sabres in the 2014 NHL Draft, Lemieux has registered 36 goals, 38 assists (74 points) and 548 penalty minutes in 307 career NHL games with Winnipeg, the New York Rangers, Los Angeles, Philadelphia and Carolina..'

Now, if Lemieux clears waivers, he will have to report to the Chicago Wolves of the AHL. From there, only time will tell whether or not he ever finds himself back in the NHL. It is not going to be an easy road.
