Sean Monahan delivered a huge tribute to Johnny Gaudreau on Tuesday night as he pointed to the heavens after scoring a goal for the Columbus Blue Jackets.

This was during the team's home opener which turned out to be a truly emotional night for everyone in the building. It was one of those games that fans were circling on their calendars, and many were hoping for it to go Columbus' way. While the team ended up losing to the Florida Panthers, there is no doubt that Johnny was honored in a sufficient manner.

Following the game, his widow, Meredith, took to Instagram with a simple reaction to what Monahan did. As many already know, Monahan and Gaudreau were the best of friends, and Meredith knew him so well. That's what ultimately makes her comments on the matter all the more heartwarming.

Forever. Brothers.

It is going to be hard for the Blue Jackets this season. Not only are they missing one of their best players, but they also have to deal with the weight of the situation. We cannot imagine what that must be like right now. It is just a testament to how strong these players are.

Our heart continues to go out to the Gaudreau family during this incredibly difficult time. We cannot begin to imagine what they must be going through right now. We hope they are able to find solace in the fact that the entire hockey world is behind them right now.
