Scottie Barnes is entering his fourth NBA season with the Toronto Raptors, looking to build on his All-Star season in 2023. He won Rookie of the Year in 2021-2022 and has improved every aspect of his game as the undeniable leader for the Raptors. Barnes is 23 years old and fills the boxscore nightly like a veteran.

Last season was difficult for Barnes and the Raptors, who won only 25 games while trading superstars Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby before the trade deadline. Barnes also suffered an injury on March 1 and missed the last 22 games of the season. Barnes needs to stay healthy if the Raptors hope to make the playoffs in the upcoming season. Let’s analyze his fantasy value for the 2024-2025 season.

Scottie Barnes 2023 Statistics

Scottie Barnes played in only 60 games last season but had the best statistical season of his career. He averaged 19.9 points, 8.2 rebounds, 6.1 assists, 1.5 blocks, and 1.3 steals per game last season. Barnes was selected to his first All-Star team and set career highs in every statistical category.

Barnes ranked 14th in fantasy points for all forwards and 39th overall in his injury-shortened season. He averaged 44.2 fantasy points per game last season and led the Raptors playing 34.9 minutes per game. Barnes took a massive leap in production in his third season after Toronto traded Pascal Siakam to the Indiana Pacers and OG Anunoby to the New York Knicks, and this season will be no different.

Scottie Barnes 2024-2025 Projections

The Toronto Raptors roster lacks star power following big trades last season and Scottie Barnes will be looked upon to help carry them in a competitive Eastern Conference. According to ESPN, he is projected to average 19.7 points, 8.3 rebounds, six assists, 1.4 blocks, and 1.3 steals in 70 games. NBA.com ranks Barnes 16th in fantasy top 150 for the upcoming season.

Scottie Barnes only missed 13 games in his first two seasons and if he stays healthy, he could flirt with averaging a double-double this season. He will be a top-15 fantasy option and should be selected within the first three rounds as a versatile, stat-stuffing forward. Barnes is primed to take another step forward in year four, hopefully making his second straight All-Star game.

Final Thoughts

Before injury ended his season, Scottie Barnes looked like the superstar Toronto hoped he would become. He should pick up right where he left off last season improving his efficiency, and getting to his spot. Averaging 20 and 10 is realistic for Barnes in the upcoming season with opportunities for a handful of triple-doubles.

Barnes is only 23 years old and the sky is the limit for him as the primary scoring option for a young rebuilding team. Barnes will be heavily relied on by the Toronto Raptors and at 6 feet 7 inches, will be a tough task for opponents attempting to slow him down. He should be on your radar early in your fantasy draft and could be a key player in winning a fantasy championship in 2024-2025.
