Shows to binge on a weekend

Are you looking for a new series to watch without a huge time commitment? Here are some shows of varying genres you can binge watch in one weekend. Happy viewing!

1 of 22

'The Night Manager'

'The Night Manager'
BBC/AMC

If you're into spy thrillers and Tom Hiddleston, chances are you'll love the television adaptation of author John le Carre's novel, The Night Manager. With six one-hour episodes, you can fit the entire first series into a single bed-rotting session. You'll also be more than prepared for when the next series drops in 2025.

'Teenage Bounty Hunters'

'Teenage Bounty Hunters'
Netflix

Teenage Bounty Hunters is a great choice to binge-watch on a weekend. You may be a few years too late to the game, but you'll be able to restart the conversation around this incredibly underrated series, and that's what's important here.

'Good Omens'

'Good Omens'
Amazon Studios

Good Omens is not only one of the best series to watch on a weekend, but it is also one of the best series on Amazon Prime Video — period. Based on Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett's novel, this comic fantasy stars acting icons Michael Sheen and David Tennant, who bring the characters of Aziraphale and Crowley to life in a way that no one else could.

'Freaks and Geeks'

'Freaks and Geeks'
NBC

Anyone who has seen Freaks and Geeks knows that it was canceled way too soon. With 18 episodes, you can probably watch the whole show in a weekend. That is if you have absolutely zero plans to move from the couch.

'High Fidelity'

'High Fidelity'
ABC/Hulu

High Fidelity is so addicting that it is the ideal binge-watch series. With time to spare, you can easily watch this show from start to finish on a weekend or even a single day. I won't tell if you go directly into the next show on this list.

'Reboot'

'Reboot'
Hulu

The Hulu original series Reboot is another hilariously brilliant show that was canceled too soon. It was just getting started! With a mere eight 30-minute episodes, you can knock this one out in an afternoon.

'One Day'

'One Day'
Netflix

Fans of the book or the 2011 film should definitely watch the Netflix series One Day. It may take longer than one day to watch it all, but anything is possible if you're committed to the bit, i.e., not moving all weekend.

'A Gentleman in Moscow'

'A Gentleman in Moscow'
Paramount+

If you're in the mood for a quick historical drama, look no further. As a limited series, A Gentleman in Moscow more than delivers. I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but since I am a fan of Ewan McGregor, I was willing to give it a try and was not disappointed.

'Living with Yourself'

'Living with Yourself'
Netflix

Living with Yourself didn't get nearly enough praise back in 2019, so I'm mentioning it here. If you're interested in dramedies, sci-fi, or just Paul Rudd, this is another eight-episode series that you can totally commit to on the weekend.

'The Sandman'

'The Sandman'
Netflix

The Sandman felt like such a fever dream, but one I haven't been able to stop thinking about for the past couple of years. I suppose that's the Neil Gaiman effect. It's a chef's kiss of a series that I highly recommend if the fantasy and supernatural genres are your thing.

11 of 22

'WandaVision'

'WandaVision'
Disney+

WandaVision is probably one of the best Marvel series to date. It's one of those I wish I could watch for the first time again. If you know, you know. You can certainly binge-watch it on a weekend, just in time for the newly released spin-off series Agatha All Along.

12 of 22

'Zach Stone is Gonna Be Famous'

'Zach Stone is Gonna Be Famous'
MTV/Paramount

If you need mindless laughter, Zach Stone is Gonna Be Famous is a solid go-to. Not only is it one of the easiest weekend watches at just 20 minutes an episode, but it's stupidly funny and a great choice when trying to unwind from the week.

13 of 22

'Maid'

'Maid'
Netflix

In more of a dramatic mood? Although Maid is a little more of an emotional investment, it is well worth the watch. Buckle up; the stakes are high, and the tears will certainly flow. Also, be prepared to pull an all-nighter because chances are, you won't want to stop watching.

14 of 22

'Firefly'

'Firefly'
20th Television

I'd be remiss if I didn't include the famous Firefly on this list. It's wildly known for its cult status, and despite the series' cancellation, its popularity produced a feature film a few years later. If you're feeling adventurous, you can try to squeeze it into your already Firefly-filled weekend.

15 of 22

'Sharp Objects'

'Sharp Objects'
Max

Let's face it: Miniseries were made for weekend binge-watching, and Sharp Objects is no exception. If you're a fan of Gone Girl , the book, or the movie, you'll want to watch, and I suppose, read this one as well. The series stars Amy Adams alongside an incredible cast whose performances will keep you on the edge of your seat.

'Feel Good'

'Feel Good'
Netflix

Feel Good technically has two seasons, but there are only six episodes per season, so you can tackle this in a couple of days. It's a charming British dramedy with a lot of heart that is a bit underrated, in my opinion. The show stars comedian Mae Martin with Lisa Kudrow as their mother, if that persuades you in any way.

'Platonic'

'Platonic'
Apple TV+

You can binge all of season one of Platonic before the next season drops (whenever that may be). Who doesn't love seeing Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne act together? It's so hilarious that you'll want to watch it again the next weekend.

18 of 22

'Watchmen'

'Watchmen'
HBO

We can't very well have a Marvel series on the list without a DC Comics series to rival it, now can we? Watchmen was one of the most popular series of 2019, with various award nominations and wins, including the Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Limited Series. Watch it this weekend if you're into superhero shows of the outstanding variety.

'Shrinking'

'Shrinking'
Apple TV+

I honestly cannot recommend Shrinking enough. It's one of my favorite series from this past year. You should definitely binge-watch it to see what all the fuss is about.

'The Queen's Gambit'

'The Queen's Gambit'
Netflix

I'm sure you've heard of The Queen's Gambit and remember everyone talking about it when it was released, so, naturally, you put it on your Netflix list and completely forgot about it. Well, now is the time. I'd say enough time has passed for you to finally be able to enjoy it at your own pace: approximately two days.

'Mare of Easttown'

'Mare of Easttown'
Max

Those interested in crime dramas under 10 episodes should give Mare of Easttown a go! Kate Winslet is undoubtedly sensational, so if anything, you should watch the miniseries for her performance alone.

'The Essex Serpent'

'The Essex Serpent'
Apple TV+

We started with T-Hiddles, and we're ending with T-Hiddles. Apple TV+ has been churning out hits right and left, and I fear that The Essex Serpent hasn't received nearly enough recognition. Fans of period pieces and miniseries, rejoice, as this is the show for you!

Shelby Weimer is a content creator and comedy writer based in Brooklyn, New York, who grew up watching and quoting way too many movies, inevitably leading her to earn a film degree (oh no) with a focus on screenwriting. She is well-versed in the world of TV and film production, having worked in just about every role in the entertainment industry, from background actor to producer. Shelby has written for various online publications, including Screen Rant and Vocal Media, but more importantly, her writing was featured on TikTok by comedian Matt Braunger. When she isn’t loving on her cat or working on scripts and sketch ideas, she’s most likely listening to her music a little too loud or watching Love Island. Both? In the words of Tulio and Miguel from the extremely underrated DreamWorks animated film The Road to El Dorado, “Both is good.”
