20 animated characters who would be terrifying to meet in real life

Jafar is one evil man. It’s made clear in Aladdin that Jafar is ugly, but what’s worse than his physical appearance are his insides. He wants to be the ultimate ruler, and he’s willing to use his terrifying powers to achieve his goals. 

Sid is a freak. He needs some intense therapy to solve all of his issues. At the very least, he needs to be put on watch because whatever he plans to do as an adult is much worse than anything he’s done as a child. 

Other Mother would be terrifying in all her forms. Whether at the beginning when she just has buttons for eyes or as the film goes on and she becomes a skeleton with broken skin. She’s a shudder-inducing woman. 

To be fair, most lions would be terrifying to meet in real life, but Scar would be particularly bad. If he doesn’t care about his own family, he’ll have no interest in those he’s never met. And he has no remorse for his actions. He’ll do anything. 

Henry J. Waternoose III has too many legs and too many eyes. He would be absolutely ghastly in real life. Also, can we talk about his last name? What is a waternoose? If it’s what it sounds like, that’s just another reason to be scared of the man. 

Dr. Facilier has a freaky vibe and even freakier powers. Anyone with access to the dark arts is a person worth staying away from, and Dr. Facilier is no exception. It might be tempting to see what he has to offer, but that’s all the more reason to steer clear. 

Koh from Avatar: The Last Airbender, also known as the Face Stealer, is absolutely disgusting. He’s a centipede-like creature who lurks about and literally takes people’s faces from them. It’s hard to imagine him being any scarier. 

Shan Yu is a fantastic villain, which means he would be terrifying to meet in real life. He’s enormous yet agile. He has no regard for human life. He’s scary strong and has yellow eyes. Everything about him incites fear. 

It would not be pleasant to run into Ursula. Half squid, half person? That can only mean trouble. She’s scary enough at her regular size, but when she becomes gigantic? Horrifying. 

You should be scared of anyone who wears horns and is best friends with a crow. Maleficent also has a very disconcerting skin color. Is she sick, or is she just that evil? If you were to encounter Maleficent in real life, you might pass out from terror. 

His Infernal Majesty, otherwise known as HIM, is a very upsetting demon. He moves too fluidly, and he has claws instead of hands. And anyone who can move as easily as he does in heels is someone you should fear. He can withstand anything. 

Hades is the god of the Underworld. Of course, he’s scary. His hair is made of fire, his skin is gray, his eyes are yellow, and his teeth are razor-sharp. His face alone would be enough to make you wet yourself. 

The people at Pixar did something incredible with Hopper in A Bug’s Life — they made him scarier than an actual grasshopper. Grasshoppers in real life aren’t particularly pleasant, but they’re nowhere near as terrifying as that ghastly little bug. 

Hexxus from FernGully: The Last Rainforest would be too terrifying for words if encountered in real life. He’s got a menacing smile and literal fire inside him. He can morph into various forms and literally wants to see the world burn. 

How terrifying can a villain be if their name rhymes? Well, in Oogie Boogie’s case, pretty dang terrifying. A burlap sack filled with bugs? Disgusting. He is quite literally a thing of nightmares. 

At first meeting, Governor Ratcliffe would be more intimidating than scary, but after learning what he’s capable of, he’d be downright horrifying. Few things in real life are as scary as a man who will stop at nothing to get the power and money he’s after. 

Cruella de Vil is another villain whose looks are deceiving. At first, she might give off more of a fabulous aunt vibe. But after learning the true source of her clothing and getting a good look at her scary eyes, she’d make even the purest people want to run away. 

Claude Frollo has a scary face and an even scarier mind. He’s a eugenicist in a position of power, and history tells us that’s an awful combination. He’s also unexpectedly strong, which makes him a horrifying villain by every measure. 

There is something about traditional animation that makes characters so much scarier. The Horned King from The Black Cauldron is beyond terrifying. He’s got an awful personality, disgusting teeth, and red eyes that glow in the dark. A menace. 

People were scared of the actual Grigori Rasputin, so it’s safe to say that the animated version would be just as terrifying, if not more. Any man with nails that long needs to be at least 100 feet away from the next closest person.
